北美華人教會要面對西方兩個信仰洪流，不是伊斯蘭教、東方宗教，而是兩個隱形和非組織性的宗教信仰：
多元信仰是現代的宗教現象，雖然美國及加拿大是以基督教立國，今日卻以彼此尊重為出發點，又肯定大家在社會裏都是依法行事的宗教團體，造成了宗教的共存現象。處身於北美多元文化社會裡的華人，在「宗教都是導人向善」的觀念下，宗教就自然多元化了，這種局面就產生正邪宗教的共存。
回顧初期教會，在羅馬帝國的專權及帝王崇拜下，基督徒是屬於不愛國者；猶太教視基督徒是離經叛道者，故屢受逼迫。這時有衛道士 Apologists的角色出現，著名有猶斯丁 Justin Martyr、特土良 Tertullian、俄利根 Origen的出現，他們在多神論的羅馬社會裡，要抗衡理性、異教的哲理和外界對基督信仰的混淆，他們就為真道竭力的爭辯。
北美的信徒在這多元信仰的洪流中，應像初期教會的衛道士，堅守信仰，其次，不要放棄傳福音的機會，來抗衡時代的多元信仰，這是神給教會的時代使命。
北美洲的英語裔教會日漸式微，最主要原因，除了他們不著重福音工作、及安逸的享樂主義外，就是受不斷擴展中的無神論思想所影響。雖然追求東方神秘主義的西方人士還是極之少數，但無神思想成了趨勢，已是西方宗教界的走勢。
北美公立學校的教育政策，不准在學校有聖經和祈禱儀式已多年。從中國來到北美的新移民，本身已是受了無神論的教育，又為了融入主流社會，和受自由主義的影響，華人家庭的下一代已出現了無神的趨勢，這是華人教會面對傳福音的阻力。
北美的信徒在無神思想的衝擊下，傳福音更添難度。我們若不殷勤作工，要記得撒旦卻仍在努力作工。願神賜給我們剛強不膽怯的心，面對多元信仰和無神信仰，殷勤作工直到主再來。
The Chinese churches in North America are facing two challenges of western religious belief, and they are not Islam nor Eastern religions. The two are invisible and unorganized.
Polytheism is a modern phenomenon. Although the United States and Canada are founded on Christian principles, today our society prides itself on mutual respect by affirming all religious groups in accordance to the law which promotes coexistence of all religions. Overseas Chinese living in this multi-cultural society under the idea that "all religions guide people to perform good deeds," become polytheistic. As a result, good and evil coexists.
When we look back to the time of the Early Church, under the authoritarian state of the Romans Empire, the Jews saw Christians as religious traitors and they were persecuted. Apologists such as Justin Martyr, Tertullian, Origen came on the scene to defend the truth with all their might. They spoke out against the mixing of rationalized, pagan philosophies with the Christian faith.
Believers who live under this torrential pressure of pluralistic faith should stand firm in the faith like the apologists of the Early Church. Secondly, do not give up the opportunity to share the gospel and to contend against pluralism. This is the mission God gave to the church today.
Anglo-churches in North America are in decline. The main reason is that there is a lack of focus on evangelism, and a cozy, comfortable life is preferred while atheism continues to grow. Only a few are pursuing eastern mysticism, but atheistic ideology has become a western religious trend.
For many years, educational policy in North America forbade the reading of the Bible and Prayer. New immigrants from China were themselves subjected to such atheistic education. As they integrate into a free mainstream society, the next generation of Chinese families is trending towards a godless society. This is the resistance the Chinese Churches are facing in sharing the gospel.
For believers in North America who under the impact of atheistic ideology, evangelism will be more difficult. We must continue to be diligent as Satan is still hard at work. May God give us a strong, and not a timid heart, to face our pluralistic society to counter godlessness. Let us work with zeal until the Lord returns.
